Shot (one camera and one lens)

I was living in Savannah, Georgia in 2022.
My fear of America and its relationship to guns is very real, and on my mind for the whole time I was living there. I think I gained a false sense of security after a time; any shots I could hear were rare and usually far away. Or I would come home from a night out to hear there was a shooting in the same spot, and not known.
Saturday afternoon, and a car pulls up outside my window, a man jumps out and empties a clip into a building across the street. Bullets bouncing around, into the apartment window next door.
And it was over as fast as it happened.
This short video is an exploration inside the emotions, the reactions and the remaining adrenalin that has nowhere to go.

Hong Kong Gay Mens Chorus - Only Human, Oct 2022

As a card carrying member of Hong Kong Gay Mens Chorus, I jumped at the chance to dabble in some video production in Oct 2022. I have to say I am happy with how this shoot went. I enjoyed the editing, and although I prefer to direct video rather than be the cameraman, it was great results for the entire thing being shot on a Fuji XT2. With the thanks to Kwol Studios we shot the clip in similar dark tones to the sombre sound of the song, and in my favourite black and white.

Alexa Fadayz, Hong Kong's bearded drag queen

As I redesign my website to include this blog, I wanted to highlight an opportunity I had to be interviewed for an Australian LGBTQIA Magazine. I don’t see myself as a photographer who has anything to impart, wisdom or technical-wise, but it was fun to self examine a little and look at my career so far, for what it was. A ton of effort, some luck, lots of love and support, and also feeling quite isolated and alone at times. Being asked about myself was a healthy exercise in the end, because I landed here, now, beginning 2024 with a new hunger for experiences and achievements and to practice the photography that I love. To have an eye catching cover they wanted a sample of my photography, the photo of Alexa with the butterflies was too good to pass up.
